Sekinchan Pork Noodles, Restoran 898, Taman Indah Perdana, Kepong

I just love to travel and hunt for food places that I have never heard before or never seen reviews; mainly because of the curious feeling to try. Well, on a very fine day me n the girlfriend was heading to Kepong for her dental appointment. While waiting for her friend we stopped and headed randomly to a coffee shop for breakfast.

The pork noodles looks good as I've seen majority of the customers are having it. The rule of thumb to order good food when going to some place new is to observe what other customers are having, lol.

In my opinion, this version of Pork Noodles (RM3.80) which doesn't feature sweet pork soup must have their own selling point. I found the noodles here - ordered hor fun, very smooth and blends well with the very tasty minced pork. Also the sausage slices are very up to par with very good filling. The pork cakes, well are okay as I know most of them are factory made. One very good point that I've felt is their very fragrant pork oil that is drizzled on top. Makes the noodles extra slippery and tasty.

Ordered the Yam Cake (RM 2) as the girlfriend does not want something tat is too heavy that early. The yam cake on the other hand is very disappointing, being not very fragrant and too mushy to my liking.

All in all I felt Restoran 898 is another coffee shop that must not be missed when passed by. I've observed locals who are very close to the shop owners while having my meal, which means this shop is loved by locals alike.

San Kao Yu, Petaling Street

Craving for some beef noodles on a very late night, the girlfriend brought me to this place that she frequented with her dad before. Not knowing where to get my good fix during at night, I am actually happy to hear that this stall is the initial setup stall of the famous Shin Kee Beef Noodles at Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock; continued and manned by different people.

Arrived right in the middle of midnight; and we're the last and only customer here.

Ordered straightaway without much hassle. The girlfriend ordered a soup version of the Beef Noodles (RM 6) with standardized ingredients - beef slices, beef balls and beef tripes. The soup here is the winner of all in my opinion, with very sweet and 'beefy' taste which can only be achieved by hours and hours of boiling. I also enjoyed the beef balls very much; bouncy and very meaty.

I ordered the dry version of the Beef Noodles (RM6). The dry version's noodle are separated from the soup and has minced meat topping. The minced meat was not over-salty and actually tasted very good with the smooth hor fun that I ordered. Didn't expect that non self made noodles could actually win my score, but the simple combination honestly just did. I also specifically go for just the beef slices as I'm a big fan of it. For RM6, this is very worth as they give roughly 7-9 pieces of beef slices, along with a big bowl of soup to go with. I have seen more 'famous' places that is so stingy with their soup and serves like 1/2 portion of a small bowl of soup.

The landmark is the Tang City Food Court. San Kao Yu is located directly left side in the lane. Another landmark is that this stall is located at the same row as the famous Foong Wong Bakery.

OUG Backlane Curry Noodles, OUG

Being a good elder brother on a fine day, I went to collect the report card of my youngest sister. Right after that, we were hunting for some good breakfast; and this curry noodle stall just hit on me. Well reason being that when I was in primary school, I used to frequent this stall with my mother almost every morning to get good breakfast. Feeling a little bit nostalgic here lol. This stall here is, well like how I used to like to say is one of OUG's treasure! The curry noodles here are of the better ones and trust me, the taste never changes as the uncle and auntie are still preparing the noodles on their own and not handing over to foreign maids to cook. From what I see, the son even came and help out now. Passing on business huh?

Good old Curry Noodles (RM 4.50) with toppings like shredded chicken, char siew, tofu skins and some raw cockles. The star of the curry noodles would of course be the curry itself, not too spicy and just nice consistency. I like how the noodles got coat with the thick-ish curry on every bite.

I don't take yellow noodles, so my always combination would always be kuay teow and vermicelli. Better still as vermicelli tends to soak most of the curry gravy in it, lol.

Finished and satisfying meal always hits the spot for a very good morning start. =)
This curry noodles stall is located between two coffee shops, one being TMC Kopitiam and I couldn't really remember the other's name. Just locate BHP Petrol Station (the only 1 petrol station in OUG) and TMC is located right opposite. The stall is located right between both coffee shop's lane. Opens from early morning till afternoon - depending though.

Pork Noodles, Restoran Sun Sea, Overseas Union Garden (OUG)

How can I not blog about this amazing all time favourite food of mine? The best pork noodles could be found in Restoran Sun Sea, Taman Overseas. I name it OUG's pride! Proof? Enter the coffee shop and you'll find 90% of the customers are having the same bowl of noodles! Honestly, I have been hooked and got addicted to the noodles since I was 14 or 15, heck I only actually tried other stalls's food for once or twice throughout.

Restoran Sun Sea is easily located. Enter Overseas Union Garden from Old Klang Road. Locate the BHP Station on your right. Go straight and turn on the 2nd right turning. Go straight further and pass through a row of shoplot. The coffee shop is on your left; which is nearby the morning market. Beware of before and after school jam sessions whilst finding for parking space.

A good hot piping bowl of pork noodles (soup version). The strength in this stall's pork noodles would be it's sweet soup; which I felt rarely got out of the expected taste. Honestly, one sip and you can't stop in finishing the whole bowl of soup. The pork noodles here also comes with loads of ingredients; which is also another bonus. A standard bowl could consists of lean pork slices, minced pork, pork liver, pork intestines, squids, prawns and veges. As far as I noticed, a few more premium items could be add upon request; such as eggs, seaweeds and fish if I'm not wrong. Noodles varieties to be choose are the usuals: Yellow noodles, kuay teow, mee huun and lou shu fun.

Dry version. My bowl of noodles, with special customized ingredients (favourite!): Mee hoon and kuey teow; with loads of minced pork and prawn with an egg. Guess visiting so many years and being close gave me more ingredients quantity, lol.


The drinks from the coffee shop itself is worth praising. Although abit pricier by 20-30 cents compared to other coffee shops, the drinks here are thick and worth every of the extra cents. The Milo Ais (RM2.20) is very thick and just right the sweetness. Look at the colour!

Restoran Sun Sea also has other stalls which servers pretty good food. Stalls serving your usual hawker food fare such as pan mee, chicken rice, yong tao fuu and curry noodles can be found there. Give it a try!
